MÉRIDA

MÉXICO

Mérida, founded in 1542 on the site of the Mayan city of Tʼho, preserves a remarkable fusion of Mayan heritage and Spanish colonial architecture. Its historic center, museums, and cultural festivals coexist with a vibrant culinary and tourist scene; its proximity to archaeological sites like Chichén Itzá makes it a key destination for cultural tourism on the peninsula.
